Fishing and Ponds Guide

Pond fishing is the active half of Fish an Anime RNG on Roblox. You click a pond, wait for the automated cast to resolve, and pull an anime character from the RNG table instead of a traditional fish. Every catch decision — keep, place, sell, or level — feeds the tycoon half of the game where platforms print cash offline. Understanding ponds, rods, and inventory flow separates players who rebirth hourly from players stuck on tutorial pacing.

Pair this guide with getting started, luck upgrades, and the fishing rods tier list.

How pond fishing works

The basic interaction is simple:

  1. Walk to a pond in the hub area.
  2. Click or tap the pond to begin fishing.
  3. Wait for the catch animation — speed depends on your rod and upgrades.
  4. Receive an anime character in your backpack.
  5. Choose to place it on a base platform, store it, or sell duplicates if the game allows.

Fishing continues automatically once started until you stop or fill inventory. For overnight rolls, use official Auto Fish at the dock instead of logging out. Manage backpack space — rebirths grant extra slots, and gem shop nodes may add more.

Fishing rods and the rod shop

You begin with the Steel Rod from the tutorial, then upgrade through Iron, Ice, Amethyst, Gold, Ruby, Astral, Void, and eventually Rod of Heaven’s at endgame rebirth counts. Each rod changes luck, speed, and total strength stats.

Visit the Fishing Rods NPC in the plaza to view locked and unlocked tiers. Most rods require specific rebirth counts and large cash payments. Do not skip mid-tier rods — their stat jumps often cost less per luck point than grinding raw shop upgrades alone.

Full rankings and stat tables live on the fishing rods tier list.

Catch speed vs luck

Speed determines how many rolls you attempt per minute. Luck determines how good those rolls are. Early players should buy whichever rod tier their rebirth rank unlocks, then alternate cash between rod upgrades and permanent luck nodes.

During Luck Potion windows, fish continuously — potion time is wasted in menus. See luck and upgrades for potion scheduling.

Placing vs holding catches

After a strong pull:

  • Replace a weaker platform character if the new unit earns more cash.
  • Keep collection pieces for the Character Index and claim gems only after your rarest unit is on the Lemon Stand.
  • Sell or recycle duplicates only when you understand the economy — some accounts regret selling a mid-tier unit before a rebirth multiplier doubles its value.

Use unit role rankings when public stat tables are incomplete — we rank by income role, not invented character names.

Pond sessions with friends

Servers support up to eight players. Friends bonus cash accelerates early rebirths. Fish together during code-drop weekends so everyone redeems active codes before marathon sessions.

Inventory and food loop

Fishing fills inventory; food drops from boxes and world spawns level your carries. Connect pond output to food and leveling so every rare pull immediately strengthens income.

Late-game pond strategy

Endgame fishing targets collection completion and gem stand placement upgrades. After Rebirth 5, pond sessions focus on pulling a rarer Lemon Stand occupant rather than raw cash — cash should already flow from multipliers.

Track patch changes in August 2026 updates when pond tables or rod costs shift.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I start fishing in Fish an Anime RNG?

Click or tap a pond in the hub after the tutorial. Fishing runs automatically until you stop or fill your backpack.

Where do I buy better rods?

Talk to the Fishing Rods NPC in the plaza. Most rods unlock at specific rebirth counts and cost cash.

Should I sell duplicate characters?

Only when you are sure the unit is worthless for both income and collection. When unsure, compare platform earnings first.

Does fishing work while AFK?

Active fishing requires interaction, but placed characters earn cash offline — balance active pond time with passive base income.
